‎El-Rufai Claims National Security Adviser Phone Call Was Intercepted for Him to Know About His Planned Arrest

..Says EFCC Will Host Him on Monday


‎Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has alleged that Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, ordered his arrest and claimed that the NSA’s telephone conversation directing security operatives to detain him was intercepted.

‎El-Rufai made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, a day after he was involved in a confrontation with security operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

‎During the television interview, El-Rufai alleged that Mr Ribadu personally directed security officials to arrest him. He also claimed that the NSA’s phone line was tapped and that the alleged instruction to detain him was overheard through the intercepted communication.

‎He did not provide evidence to substantiate the claim or disclose who allegedly intercepted the call.

‎As of the time of filing this report, Mr Ribadu had not issued an official response to the allegation.

‎Mr El-Rufai has stated that he is prepared to honour lawful invitations from security and anti-corruption agencies and confirmed that he would appear before the EFCC for questioning.
