‎Oyo Connects Seven Zones to Boost Economic Activities, Eyes Benefits of Akinyele Dry Port

‎
‎The Oyo State Government has disclosed that it has connected the state’s seven zones to facilitate economic activities, improve the movement of agricultural produce and strengthen trade across the state.
‎
‎The Commissioner for Commerce, Trade and Industry, Professor Salihu Adelabu, disclosed this at a forum in Ibadan, where he emphasised the importance of collaboration between the government and chambers of commerce for effective policy implementation and sustainable economic growth.
‎
‎Adelabu explained that the connections linking Oke-Ogun Zone I, Oke-Ogun Zone II, Ogbomoso, Oyo, Ibarapa, Ibadan Main City and Ibadan Less City were designed to ease the transportation of agricultural produce from farming communities to major markets, with Ibadan serving as a strategic commercial hub.
‎
‎He urged stakeholders to take advantage of the infrastructure and economic opportunities available in the state to promote trade, expand businesses and improve economic activities.
‎
‎The commissioner also highlighted the economic opportunities presented by the Ongoing dry port project in Akinyele Local Government Area, saying the state intended to take advantage of the facility to strengthen trade and maximise its economic benefits.
‎
‎In his goodwill message at the gathering, the National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engineer Jani Ibrahim, said Oyo State’s comparative advantages in key sectors could enable it to benefit from Nigeria’s growing non-oil export earnings.
‎
‎The forum highlighted the importance of cooperation between the government and the private sector in strengthening local enterprises, promoting agricultural development and expanding Oyo State’s participation in the non-oil economy.
