Sowore’s AAC Seeks Approval to Inaugurate Presidential Campaign Council at Aso Rock

The African Action Congress (AAC), led by its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has written to President Bola Tinubu seeking approval to use the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, as the venue for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The request was contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena. The party proposed November 11, 2026, for the inauguration.

In the letter titled “Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support,” the party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for participants at the event.

Sowore shared the letter on Wednesday, bringing the request to public attention.

The AAC said its request was based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

According to the party, it is seeking the same arrangement reportedly granted to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which inaugurated its campaign council at the State House Conference Centre on October 14, 2026.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the letter stated.

The party also asked the Presidency to provide details of the procedures and conditions required for approval of the request.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had yet to respond to the AAC’s request.
